We promote our own Waitapu wine club, and also support a wine tasting club called the "Brown Baggers" where wines are tasted blind and members try to ascertain which they prefer of a range of, Syrah, for instance. Or sometime we have "wine options" where the members try to work out which wine they are tasting, where it comes from, which grape varietal, vineyard etc. !!

Eric and Sandra Shackleton have built a modern mediterranean/Kiwi style home on 12
acres on a hill near Ahipara in the Far North of New Zealand. It has wonderful views
to the north encompassing 90-
With the native plantings and grapes vines it is a really lovely green spot near the West Coast, and is a haven for Tui, Native Pigeon and we are hoping for Kiwis in the future.
There is a small stream flowing through the property the name of which is Waitapu meaning "Sacred water" hence the name for the vineyard. This stream provides water for a large number of properties and market gardens.
This is a small family boutique vineyard. Eric & Sandra with their boys Garvin, Clive and Stefan have lived in the area most of their lives. Eric & Sandra work in a local pharmacy as does Garvin, Stefan milks cows and Clive teaches English in Spain.
